The Beauty of a White Flower Girl Dress

Isn’t a white flower girl dress a bit too basic? Shouldn’t a flower girl get to wear something with a print or pattern instead of something so simple and plain? Interestingly enough most people are not aware that the flower girl’s dress is supposed to mirror the looks of the bride’s gown. This is one of the reasons that it is so common to find a white flower girl dress in almost every cut or design available.
The thing about such a choice is that it might not make the kind of fanciful statement that makes the flower girl such a charming part of any bridal party. Additionally, most little girls love to wear a fancy gown, and a plain white flower girl dresses might be a bit of a disappointment to them. Fortunately there are many styles available that feature a white base, but which are adorned in a large number of ways.
For example, embroidery, buttons, lace, sashes and flowers can be added to even the most basic white flower girl dress to give a huge amount of style and pizzazz. Consider that a bride who wants their flower girl to remain in a purely white ensemble could opt for a hemline of braided ribbon, or they might opt for an organza overlay on the skirt to give it a gentle flow. They might have satin stripes stitched to the skirt and the body of the pure white gown to also give it a bit of elegance too.
If a bride would prefer to coordinate the flower girl dresses with the bridal party, they might opt to add a colored sash to an otherwise purely white gown, and there are many styles that have remarkably mature details such as rhinestone embroidery worked into the sash or silk flowers sewn to them too.
There are also many options for light embroidery or needlework that can give a white gown a softer and more age-appropriate look as well. This might be a white dress that has an organza overlay of coordinating embroidery, or it could be something as fanciful as a crocheted panel added to the gown too. 
Because there are so many options in white dresses for children it is best to first consider the age of the child who will wear it, and then make choices based on their comfort. For example, a plain white dress with some embroidery will be much easier for a toddler to wear than a dress with many buttons, lace panels, or other delicate features.
